Jessica Pozo is a Registered Nurse and Registered Health Coach certified in Functional Medicine. Since she can remember, she has always had a passion for helping others in any way she can. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree with Honours from Ryerson University in 2014. Naturally drawn to the prevention side of healthcare, Jessica worked for many years in oral surgery, sedation dentistry and finally in IV nutrient therapy.

After years of testing the limits of her body, she started to struggle with burnout. Working two nursing jobs and going to school, she struggled to stay awake in the evenings although she was only in her 20s. Through a combination of naturopathic medicine, functional medicine and lifestyle modifications, she was finally able to revive her energy tremendously after years of struggling to find answers and being told that everything was normal. Through this experience, she realized what her true meaning and purpose was. To spread the world that a lot of the health concerns we struggle with today (from diabetes, to heart disease, to cancer, to burnout, to IBS, to autoimmune conditions, etc) can be drastically improved through dietary and lifestyle changes. Quickly realizing that having the knowledge of what to do is often not enough for her patients, Jessica decided to obtain training and certification in health coaching. She understands that dietary and lifestyle changes are tough, because she has been there and continues to work towards optimizing more and more areas of her health. She now combines her knowledge and years of experience in medicine and patient care with her training in functional medicine, motivational interviewing and positive psychology to inspire lasting health and lifestyle change for her clients.

She helps patients figure out HOW they will actually do what they want and need to do for their health by considering their unique situation, beliefs, motivations, and abilities. More specifically, she assists clients to adopt lifestyle habits in the areas of nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, and relationships to manage and often reverse their conditions.

Jessica Pozo typically works with patients of naturopathic, functional and lifestyle medicine doctors who have been given a treatment protocol but either don’t know where to start or struggle to maintain consistency. She helps her clients to stop starting over again by tapping into intrinsic motivation and suggesting strategies to create actionable and sustainable steps.

She also enjoys working with patients who have had their fair share of doctors visits and have been told everything is normal but they do not feel normal.

She hopes to contribute to a change to the current healthcare system in Canada by increasing the awareness of the importance of health coaching in sustainable client outcomes. When Jessica is not working, you can find her in deep conversation with friends, trying new foods with her partner and playing with her toddler.
